Staff at Dunnes Stores at the Square Shopping Centre in Tallaght were celebrating as they sold a Money Multiplier 20X scratch card worth €100,000.
A Carlow woman has pocketed an astonishing €100,000 on a National Lottery scratch card bought as she paid for her grocery shopping.
The married woman, who wishes to keep her win private, won the €100,000 top prize on a €5 Money Multiplier scratch card which she bought in Dunnes Stores in the Square Shopping Centre in Tallaght, Dublin 24.
The lucky mum, who has a young family, said she made her purchase at the cash desk when she was finished her shopping. And little did she know that a mundane shopping trip would lead to a dream visit to the National Lottery Winners’ Room!
“I started scratching the card on the way out of the store and my legs turned to jelly when I realised I had won a big amount. I tried to explain to my husband but he wasn’t having any of it – he thought I had gone mad! The reality of the win only hit home when the National Lottery confirmed our good fortune over the phone, so we rushed straight down to National Lottery headquarters to make our claim,” she said.
Spending plans have been put on hold for the married couple as they let their massive win sink in. The Carlow pair have however promised that their family will be front and centre to their plans:
“It’s a little too early to think about spending it yet because it still doesn’t feel real! I can honestly say that this win is going to help so many people. We haven’t told anybody yet but we have decided to split some of the money amongst our families and we cannot wait to tell them all,” added the Carlow mother.
